ROTARY STUDENT OF THE YEAR
May 2010
Senior student Angelica Nevins won a Student of the Year plaque and $1,000 scholarship from the Brown County Rotary Club for her outstanding community service and academic achievements. She was commended especially for coordinating a highly successful Relay For Life talent show to raise money for cancer research, and for her work as a volunteer vocational teacher. She plans to attend the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville and pursue a degree in education. She was nominated for the award by her high school English teacher, Greg Mosley, and her high school principal Matt Stark. Brittani Taylor (second from left), a graduating senior of Brown County High School, is recognized as Student of the Year for 2009. Brittani was chosen from among eight students-of-the-month by the school’s faculty and formally recognized at the high school awards ceremony in May and again at the Rotary Club annual banquet in June. Faculty selection members cited outstanding academic, athletic, extracurricular, and leadership achievements in Brittani’s high school career.
Britanni received a plaque highlighting the honor, while a similar plaque will be permanently displayed at the high school. Rotary Club members also presented Brittani with a monetary award to be used in furthering her education. She plans to pursue a degree in veterinary science at Louisiana State University.

Other students of the month during the 2008-2009 academic year were Paige Brady, Austin Pierce, Margaret Burke, Cory Williams, Margaret Seitz, Anna Leggins, and Christian Ely.

Jenny Smith was recognized as Brown County Rotary Student of the Year at the Brown County High School Senior Awards Ceremony May 5th. The Faculty and Staff of Brown County High School chose Jenny from among the seven Rotary Students of the Month.
She was selected for her outstanding academic achievement, volunteerism, community service, and positive attitude. Jenny was presented with a plaque, while a matching plaque will be permanently displayed at the high school. Dr. Charles Cody, coordinator of this Rotary project, led the Rotary Club of Brown County and selected members in donating $525 for Jenny’s post high school education. She will be attending Indiana State University with a major in Nursing and a minor in Sociology.Jenny along with her father and President-Elect Pryde Bayliss, received her Student of the Month Award at a February Rotary meeting.
Other Students of the Month have been Andrea Bright, Craig Davis, Ethan Scott, Margaret Burke, Ben Hendricks, and Erica Garrett.
